Let me tell you about our pastor, Dan Burgess.

Pastor Burgess came to Las Vegas in August of 2018 from Panama City, Florida. He served as a pastor for 12 years in Florida before exchanging humidity for the dry-heat of the desert. He came to Las Vegas with his wife (Sarah) and three children (Madison, Christopher, and Ethan).

Pastor's story about how he became part of the WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod) and how he came to be a pastor is unique. He grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). At the age of 10 his family left the LDS church and started attending a WELS church in Northern California. There he was baptized into the Christian faith.

Pastor Burgess' family had a history of service in the U.S. Coast Guard, so he thought he would go to the Coast Guard Academy. God had other plans. Through the encouragement of his pastor, Pastor Burgess decided to go to the WELS College of Ministry: Martin Luther College (MLC) in New Ulm, Minnesota. The rest, as they say, is history: he spent five years studying at MLC and four more years studying at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (WLS) and then graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree.

When he graduated, Pastor Burgess was assigned to serve Bethany Lutheran Church in North Fort Myers, Florida. After four years, he then went north to serve at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Panama City, Florida.

We are grateful to have Pastor Dan Burgess serving us and with us at Water of Life! May God continue to bless our ministry!
